The Bowtie has 3 different uses: cue tip scraper, cue tip shaper and cue tip aerator.

cue tip scraper

The purpose of the scraper side of the Bowtie is simply to roughen the surface of the tip so that it will hold the chalk. Most new tips have a surface that needs to be rubbed down before you can use the cue. Also, over time, depending on the hardness of the tip and frequency of use, the tip will compress into a smooth surface that will also need to be rubbed down. You lightly scrape the surface of the tip using either a twisting motion or a back and forth motion so that these surfaces are scraped off and the chalk sticks to the tip.

The shaper is used to shape the tip into the desired dome curve that you are comfortable with. You lightly scrape the tip by turning it clockwise or counterclockwise, making sure to work your way around the entire tip. Players commonly use a dime or nickel to measure this curve.

The purpose of the aerator feature is to slightly break up the surface of the tip when it is new or has been compressed after prolonged use. You need to unscrew the bow tie in half to expose the aerator pins. Carefully roll the aerator over the tip and puncture the tip with small pin holes to allow more chalk to enter. You do not twist, turn or scrape the tip with the aerator. You will tear the tip to pieces. You can still shape and/or sand afterward.

DELIVERY TIME

In-stock orders typically ship within 2 business days, excluding customized items. A tracking number will be emailed to you once your order has shipped.

The delivery time may vary depending on the product. This is because some items are not in our central warehouse and must first be transferred to the central warehouse in order to coordinate shipping. For customers outside Germany, an additional delivery time must be added.

During certain higher volume shipping seasons, shipping delays may occur.
